Propaganda was the second magazine issued by U2 following on the heels of U2 Magazine. The first issue was published in 1986, and issues continued up until 2000 as part of volume 01. In 2000, with the internet rapidly expanding, the band attempted to revisit the magazine launching volume 02, but the magazine never really took off, and Propaganda folded in 2002.

In 2000, U2’s fan magazine, Propaganda got a face lift, the first in 16 years. The dimensions of the magazine were changed to be smaller in size, and the look of the magazine changed as well. The first issue of volume 2 was launched with a free CD, Hasta La Vista Baby. The numbering was also changed with the relaunch, starting with a new issue 1.
